M.G.Dharmaraj Symposia (Established in 2005) now under Y Think Tank: With a view to disseminate constructive ideas on social activism and action, two symposia are held every year perpetuating the memory of late M.G.Dharmaraj, former General Secretary and MOTT Hostel Warden on issues like use of church and institutional properties, restoration of Nag River, using spiritual resources of faiths to fight HIV, development and the marginalized sections and self determination by statehood of people of Vidharba. The YMCA is committed to take up and create awareness on issues of civil society.
Keeping in mind the health hazards caused by rabid and infected dogs and in a gesture of solidarity with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, the Nagpur YMCA pioneered the campaign for sterilization. To date, the YMCA has completed 2469 sterilizations at the Social Education Centre, Gaddigodam.

Traffic Education Programme
Since 1997, the YMCA is closely associated with the Traffic Police and it is the only YMCA in the entire Asia doing the traffic awareness and road safety activities. Youth Empowerment through Traffic Management Endeavours [YETME] programme has trained 535 underprivileged youth of 18-25 years in the 40 day intensive training with the help of traffic police. On a small stipend, the youth work at the busy traffic squares, helping the children and the senior citizen to cross the road, maintain the decent parking system on the parking zone, creating general awareness on pollution and promoting helmets.

The youth extend services on Durga Pooja, Holi, major religious processions, National Day functions, Vayusena Day and Ganesh Utsav.With the assistance of Department of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi, the YMCA has completed training in 5 schools covering 11,000 students.
Women’s Forum
As a firm believer in gender equity, the YMCA advocates the full participation of women in all spheres of life and decision making. The YMCA has initiated women’s forum at local, regional and national level with separate structure of its own.
